Loreto Grammar School Sixth Form student Alice Terry is following in her parents' footsteps by winning one of the country's most prestigious commercial sponsorships after a lengthy application process.
The 17-year-old academic high flyer from Sale will combine a course in Accountancy and Finance at Birmingham University with paid work placements at the global financial services giant KPMG.
Alice, who got five A*s and five As in her GCSEs, has been offered payment of her university fees, a part-time six month work placement between school and university, a six month full time placement during university, a salary and the opportunity to join full time after her course dependent on her progress and results.
With advice from her teachers at Loreto, Alice applied through the KPMG website, then completed a set of aptitude tests with a round of interviews before learning of her success.
Currently studying Biology, Chemistry and Maths in the Loreto Sixth Form, Alice has clear ambitions: “After my sponsorship I'd like to continue to work for this global accountancy firm and to take every opportunity for travel”.

Hopefully after my sponsorship I can continue to work for this global accountancy firm, maybe travel with them and move up in the firm.”
She added: “As my parents are both accountants and have had a challenging and satisfying working life, I too feel I will enjoy the structure to the profession and the positive office environment. I feel honoured because KPMG is a large global company with lots of opportunities and I am delighted that the audit work I will be doing will allow me to see a variety of different clients.”
Director of Loreto Grammar School's Sixth Form Ms Jordan said: “Alice is a hardworking, positive and energetic member of our community and is a clearly a great credit to her parents. KPMG has a deserved reputation for making wise choices for very good reason.”
