Your Space

Your Space – take a look!

Whilst most of the Sixth Form lessons take place in the main schools' specialist department classrooms, there are many designated areas which are reserved for Sixth Form student use only. Below is an insight into some of these areas:

The Library: Loreto benefits from a vast array of wonderful resources and nowhere is this more evident than the Library. Situated in the beautiful old Chapel, the Library provides a calm, welcoming atmosphere in which to study. The Library has is separated into “zones of learning”. A reading/ relaxation area has been installed in the main entrance. A separate silent study zone with seating for up to 60 students is available upstairs. There are also several study spaces in the main body of the Library together with a small “chill-out” zone encompassing bean bags, and comfortable seating. The Library houses over 15,000 resources such as books, journals and DVDs.

Sixth Form Lobby: As you ascend to the main Sixth Form area you arrive in the lobby where there is space to relax and chat with your friends. Our University Prospectus library, which houses paper copies of UpToDate prospectus’ from around the UK, is also located in this area. You will also see the Head Girl school honours board.

Café Loreto: Further along from the lobby is Café Loreto. Café Loreto provides hot and cold food exclusively to Sixth Form students throughout the day at break and lunch. The seating area also provides space for students to study during free periods as an alternative to the library. Occasionally, Café Loreto is used to host meetings, assemblies and guest speakers.

Upper Common Room: At the end of the corridor beyond the Seminar Room, is our Upper Common Room. This space is used at break, lunch, before and after school and also during Cake Fridays for Sixth Form students to relax and unwind. It is a social space and used exclusively for Year 12 and 13.

Long Common Room: Downstairs, off the Crush Hall, is the Long Common Room. This room provides a dynamic space for both socialising and working. Along the back wall is a suite of computers for Sixth Form students and round worktables. On the other side are the comfy chairs for break, lunch and before and after school. In the entrance to this space are two vending machines for a range of hot and cold drinks and snacks.
