School Uniform Years 7-11
We are proud of our school uniform which promotes the ethos of our school, provides a sense of belonging and identity and sets an appropriate tone for education. Our uniform is a visual representation of our school culture and supports a safe and purposeful climate for learning and we expect students to adhere to the high standards of uniform at all times.
As part of our ongoing partnership with Loreto Grammar School, Monkhouse has worked closely with the school to review its uniform requirements in preparation for the new Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill (CWB), which places greater focus on the affordability of school uniform. Our aim was to help Loreto prepare for these changes while protecting the identity, quality and sense of belonging that its uniform provides.
Working together, we reviewed the full uniform range and helped the school clearly distinguish between items that need to be compulsory and those that can instead be presented as school-recommended options. Under the new approach, the school’s core branded items remain at the heart of the uniform, while greater flexibility is provided around other garments that families can purchase from a wider range of retailers. Optional items can still be available through Monkhouse.
This approach provides several important benefits for Loreto families. It gives parents greater choice over where they purchase certain items and helps reduce the compulsory cost of joining and attending the school. At the same time, it allows Loreto to retain the distinctive items that are most important to its identity and sense of community.
For the school, taking action early also meant being prepared for future legislative requirements rather than having to make reactive changes later. By reviewing the range collaboratively, we have been able to provide practical guidance on balancing affordability, compliance, availability and the long-term sustainability of the uniform. The result is a more flexible and transparent uniform policy that supports families while continuing to uphold the high standards and strong identity associated with Loreto Grammar School.

The LPA are always grateful for donations of uniform and these can be taken to student services or dropped off at the main school reception at any time.

1-1 Personalised In-Store Appointments
Many new starters prefer to visit a store for fitting and advice, Monkhouse will be continuing with their popular 1-1 personalised store appointments with their expert staff. In-store appointments are now available and can booked one month in advance, stores also attend to walk-in appointments. These 1:1 appointments are not compulsory but we highly recommend them for new starters.
