Living with Lady Macbeth
Loreto Grammar School's charismatic young actors saw the funny side of even the darkest tragedy when they staged the contemporary comedy classic 'Living with Lady Macbeth.'
The plot revolves around the school wall flower Lily Morgan who is desperate to make her mark by playing the lead female role in their annual play.
Played with wit, wisdom and and endearing self-deprecation by Bonita Blinkhorn, she forms a rib tickling comedy partnership with her sidekick, always first to make the wise crack, Monica played by the quick fire Cliona Pinto.
The eloquent Mamusu Sankoh imposes herself on the rapidly developing plot as Macbeth, but as Director Fiona Hamill insisted, “this is a truly ensemble piece with 33 actors and a sound and lighting crew all made up of Year 8 and 9 pupils all centre stage with a key part to play. As I keep reminding the girls, there are no small parts, just small actors.” Rob John's wonderfully witty piece played to enthusiastic, packed audiences over three nights and brought school Shakespeare into the 21stCentury.
